What's Included in My Estate Plan?

Depending On Your Needs, These Services Are Available

Often referred to as a Will Substitute, well-drafted Trusts can serve many purposes.  With a Trust your loved ones may be able to avoid probate, a Trust can reduce or eliminate inheritance taxes, a Trust can assure that your grandchildren and step-children receive their inheritance, a Trust can provide for mentally incompetent or underage heirs, a Trust can provide for the care of your beloved pets, and a Trust can address many other individual needs.

POWERS OF ATTORNEY - (Included in ALL Estate Plans)

Powers of Attorney are only effective while you are alive.  If you become incapacitated and are unable to make rational decisions concerning your finances or unable to make rational decisions concerning your healthcare, you give the right to a trusted person to make these decisions on your behalf.

LIVING WILL - (Included in ALL Estate Plans)

Often referred to as an Advanced Directive, Living Wills allow you to give instructions regarding your final illness if you are unable to convey your wishes.  If you are able to convey your wishes, this document is not used.

FINAL DISPOSITION DESIRES - (Included in ALL Estate Plans)

This document allows you to tell your loved ones how you would like your remains handled after you die.  You may also choose to leave instructions regarding religious services, memorials, or celebration of life ceremonies. or any special wishes you desire.

HIPPA - (Included in ALL Estate Plans)

As we all know, HIPPA has made it difficult for some family and friends to obtain any information regarding your health.  We routinely add to your estate plan those people to whom you give permission to receive medical information regarding your health.

ANATOMICAL GIFTS - (Included if Desired)

If you desire, you can choose to donate some of your organs to those in need when you die.  You can choose what organs you want to donate or you may want to choose to donate your whole body for medical research.  Of course, you are in total control.   If you choose not to be a donor, that is what will happen.

WHAT ELSE WILL WE DISCUSS?

We will discuss other important estate planning issues that you should consider.  For example, we will discuss joint bank accounts, pay-on-death accounts, safety deposit boxes, IRA's, Life Insurance, how real property is held, what happens if you die without a will, what happens if I become disabled and I don't have powers of attorney, how the probate process works, what happens to Social Security payments when your spouse dies, and any other issues that may arise.
